Polyiso EPD Reports Now Available

Environmental Product Declarations

Consistent with its leadership in the manufacture of energy-efficient and sustainable building insulation solutions, PIMA publishes third-party verified, ISO-compliant Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for polyiso products. An EPD is an internationally recognized and standardized tool that reports the environmental impacts of products over a specific life cycle. The PIMA EPDs provide environmental impact information for roof and wall insulation as well as HD cover board products manufactured by PIMA members across the U.S. and Canada.

LIVE WEBINAR airing on November 12, 2020 at 2:00 PM EST

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn about building sustainability and longevity.

  2. Explain the science behind thermal, air and moisture control for steel stud construction.

  3. Interpret code requirements for building envelope design and performance.

  4. Discover how polyiso meets requirements and outperforms traditional methods for optimal control.

This webinar will educate attendees about building longevity and sustainability, and how these concepts impact making buildings more energy-efficient. The course examines how foil-faced polyiso continuous insulation can function as multiple control layers, providing air and water-resistive barriers, in addition to providing a thermal control layer and meeting NFPA 285 fire code standards. Additionally, the course reviews building codes and standards regarding how to meet the continuous insulation requirements in steel stud building envelope designs, the benefits of using polyisocyanurate insulation in wall assemblies and how to specify it to meet these requirements for optimal energy performance and design efficiency.

A Comparative Study of Water Absorption, Drying and Rewetting...Polyiso vs. Mineral Wool

Check out what M. Steven Doggett, Ph.D., Principal Scientist & CEO of Built Environments, has to say about mineral wool absorbing water compared to foil-faced polyiso.

A little preview of what you’ll learn in this study…

“bulk water flow induced by immersion and draining cause fibers to shift with corresponding changes in void volumes. These fiber shifts are likely due to degraded fiber-resin bonds. During repeated cycles, fiber layers begin to separate as slabs become visibly tattered and weathered (Figs 11-14).”
